On this day in 1923, Bessie Smith recorded “Taint Nobody’s Business If I Do” for Columbia Records.

This day in 1895 marked the birth of piano player Charles “Cow-Cow” Davenport. He’s a great example of a real originator whose ideas are still borrowed to this day.
