On this day in Blues history for April 20th…

On this day in 1931 in the city of Chicago, Louis Armstrong recorded “When It’s Sleepy Time Down South” on the OK label. It would go on to become his theme song for many years.

On this day in 1966, Albert King, backed by Booker T. and the M.G.’s, recorded a minor key number called “Laundromat Blues.” It reached number 29 on the “Rhythm & Blues” chart.
